Lamb Setts provides healthy nutritious snacks mid-morning and mid-afternoon.
Snack-time is an opportunity for social interaction with peers as well as discussions about healthy eating and healthy lifestyles.
Children are encouraged to help prepare their snacks and pour their own drinks.
Fresh Fruit, Fresh vegetables and dips, milk and juice
Government funded children attending over the lunchtime period are required to bring a healthy packed lunch. Advice leaflets for healthy lunch ideas are available at Lamb Setts.
Children attending morning sessions are provided with a two-course hot lunch. All food is prepared on-site by nursery staff trained in food hygiene. Children are encouraged to serve themselves as appropriate to their age.
Hot meals are provided on a three week rota to give children variety. Main courses include: lasagne and salad, vegetable casserole and dumplings, minced lamb & roast vegetable pasta bake, Chilli & wholemeal rice, vegatable curry & wholemeal rice, tomato and tuna pasta bake, jacket potatoes with cheese/beans/tuna and salad.
Desserts include: fresh fruit, bananas and custard, yogurt and shortbread, peaches and cream, rice pudding, crumble and custard, jelly and ice-cream.
Children who attend afternoon sessions will be provided with a two course light tea at 4pm. All food is prepared on-site by nursery staff trained in food hygiene. Children are encouraged to serve themselves as appropriate to their age.
Light Teas include: Cheese/ham/egg sandwiches on wholemeal bread/wholemeal pitta bread. Cheese on toast, Spaghetti on toast, cheese/ham crumpets.
Light tea desserts include:fresh fruit, yogurt and shortbread, peaches and cream, jelly and ice-cream, strawberry whip, cake.
