Lamb Setts Pre-School Unit has been designed to make the transition from the baby nursery to the school unit a smooth and natural process. While having some similarities with the baby nursery to give the children security, it also starts a more structured approach to the day with time set aside for welcome circle, music, P.E., group work or one-to-one activities with a member of staff.
The unit caters for twelve children between the ages of two and three and the ratio of staff to children is 1:4.
The Pre-School team is led by a fully qualified and experienced supervisor who will be happy to discuss your child’s care and development at any time. Development records are kept for your child so that staff can monitor their progress and tailor the curriculum and planning to your child’s individual needs. You are welcome to view and add to these records at any time.
The planning in the Pre-School is designed to cover all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage. It follows Montessori principles and also incorporates specific Montessori activities. The curriculum is overseen by a Graduate Early Years Professional who is also a qualified Montessori Teacher.
The unit is fully equipped with a wide range of learning materials and equipment appropriate for this age group.
The unit consists of a soft play room, main classroom, conservatory classroom, toilets and nappy changing area and kitchen.
Food, drinks and nappies are provided at no extra cost, (except specialised dietary or hygiene requirements which must be provided by parents/carers).
A hot lunch is served at 12 noon and a light tea, (sandwiches) is served at 4 p.m. A healthy mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack is also provided.
Breakfast is not provided in this unit, but children are welcome to bring their breakfast with them if they arrive before 08.30 a.m.
