Health and Safety Policy

AIMS.           To provide a safe environment for children, staff and visitors.

 

PROCEDURES.

Senior management hold Health and Safety at Work certificates and will be the Health and Safety Officers for Lamb Setts.

Safety checks will be carried out on the first Monday of each month by one of the Safety Officers and this will be recorded in the diary.

The member of staff unlocking the building each morning is responsible for carrying out a safety check of the nursery.

The senior member of staff in each unit is responsible for carrying out a safety check of their area before the children arrive.

Safety will be an agenda item at every staff meeting.

The results of safety checks and minutes of meetings which include safety issues will be recorded and action taken where necessary.

All Electrical Appliances will be tested by a qualified PAT tester.

All Fire Extinguishers will be tested annually and maintained by a registered agency.

Health and Safety will be an important element of the Induction Procedure.

All employees will be made aware of their duties under the current Health and Safety at Work Act.

All parents will be asked to provide sun hats and suncream for their child to use during hot/sunny weather. The children will not be exposed to the sun for periods longer than 10 minutes during outside play in very hot/sunny weather. 

A Health and Safety Law Poster by the Health and Safety Executive will be displayed in the Staff room.

This Document will be revised and updated as appropriate.
